Messi and youngster Trincão help Barcelona comeback at Betis.

An eventful game in Seville with the visitors starting off poorly as Ronald Araujo limps off the field and is replaced by Frankie De Jong just 11 minutes in.

Barcelona's best chance in the first half came as Lenglet's header was steered wide.

Then, Betis capitalise on a counter attack as right winger Emerson's incisive cross found Iglesias who netted his third goal of the season.

Messi, rested by manger Ronald Koeman, equalised with a quick near post shot from just inside the area in the 59th minute, just 136 seconds after coming on.

Barcelona have never lost away to Real Betis in La Liga when Messi was in the squad.

A Ruiz own goal came next after a ricochet off World Cup winner Griezmann and beautiful build up play down the left flank from Leo Messi and Jordi Alba, who has the most assists for Barcelona this season with 5.

Victor Ruiz nets in the correct goal with a bullet header from a set piece in the 75th minute.

This was soon cancelled out by 21-year-old Portuguese substitute Machado Trincão with an emphatic curled strike which sealed the win for the Catalans.

Betis sit in 7th while Barcelona advance above rivals Real to move 2nd and 7 points behind leaders Atlético Madrid, who have two games in hand, in the Spanish top flight.

La Pulga, Lionel Messi, made it 16 goals for Barcelona and 13 in La Liga, one behind former teammate Luis Suárez.

Barcelona play in Seville again on Wednesday as they face Sevilla in the semi-final of the Copa Del Rey and Real Betis travel to Villarreal in the league on the 14th February.
